Post German GP and Pre Hungarian GP

I've just completed a week off work and am heading back in to the office this morning. Our worst result for a season and a half (if memory serves) at the German GP this weekend, we were not competitive at all. But then this is a team that knows how to develop a car right up until the last race of the season (as McLaren learnt last year) so I remain optimistic about our chances for the championships. On the IT side, a quiet race which is what we expect at this part of the season. Lots of change for the test team (network, laptops etc.) over the winter break. We move on to Hungary this weekend, chances of a Renault 1-2? :-)

Post Jerez test and Pre Hockenheim

Not a bad weeks work at Jerez before the 4 week testing ban. Since January we have now completed over 38000km. A very quiet test from an IT perspective with no faults logged on the Thursday. Lots of I.T. improvements planned over the summer break so there may be more at the next one :-). The team are upbeat for the German GP as both drivers have performed well there in the past. Setup starts Tuesday, should be a good race!

Post French GP

What a YAWN. I thought it was because I had spent the morning in the sun, but even the newsreader on Radio 1 said it was a boring race. I even had time to have an email argument during the race. At least we got second when third looked the best we could do. For the IT guys it was a hectic event right up until packup on Sunday, so hopefully R12 in Germany will be easier.

Best forget this one (shouldn't be hard) and look forward to Jerez Test this week and Hockenheim race in a fortnight.

French GP - Friday

Not usually so busy on a Friday for the IT guys at the track, but the new double decker engneering truck making its debut at the French GP is keeping them busy. If you exclude the Friday drivers, we ended 1st and 2nd in today's practise session (with Schumi right behind us). Should be an interesting qualifying and race.

French GP - Thursday

Not the easiest of setups for I.T. at the French GP, but we expect to be finished soon! Lots of pressure on us to perform this weekend, but then what's new, it's been the same since race 4 of 2005.

Guess Who came to visit

The president came to visit today (of Renault not the USA). Nice to see the man who decides if I have a job or not in the flesh. Nothing new from him, but good of him to make the effort to pop out to the English countryside (by chopper of course). Some parking spaces were out of bounds because he has such a big chopper. He's impressive in the flesh.
